1. What You Are Actually Paying For
How much does a sales funnel cost? The honest answer is that it depends less on the pages and more on everything around them. A sales funnel is the full path from ad click to sale: the landing page or quiz, the offer, the checkout or booking calendar, the follow-up that reaches the lead, and the tracking that tells your ad platform which leads became customers. A quote that only covers pages is pricing a fraction of the system.
Since 2019 we have built and documented more than 275 client results, from $5 roofing leads to a $1.52M high-ticket consulting funnel. The funnels that paid back fastest were rarely the most expensive. They were the ones where the build included the parts that most quotes leave out: instant follow-up, reminders and server-side tracking.
If you are new to the terminology, our sales funnel glossary entry explains each stage. This guide focuses on money: what each option costs, what drives the number up, and how to judge whether a funnel is worth it before you sign anything.
2. Price Ranges: DIY vs Freelancer vs Agency
There are three ways to get a funnel built, and each sits in a very different price band. The ranges below describe what we typically see when prospects show us quotes they have received. They are not a survey, and your quotes may differ.
| Option | Typical upfront cost | Ongoing cost | What you usually get |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIY with a funnel builder | $0 beyond software | Software subscription plus usage | Templates, your own copy, basic email; you do the integration work |
| Freelancer | A few hundred to a few thousand dollars | Hourly for changes | Pages built to your copy; automation and tracking vary widely |
| Full-service agency | Several thousand to five figures | Often a monthly retainer | Strategy, copy, pages, CRM, ads management; ownership terms vary |
| Funnels That Print | $999 to $1,999 one-time | Software and usage only | Fixed scope, live in 5 to 10 business days, you own everything |
DIY looks cheapest, but your time is the cost. Most owners we talk to spent weeks wiring tools together and still had no follow-up running. Freelancers can be excellent for pages, though few build the CRM and tracking layers. We compare the trade-offs in detail in funnel agency vs freelancer.
3. The Five Factors That Drive Funnel Cost
When two quotes differ by ten times, the difference almost always comes from these five line items.
Copywriting
Copy is the single biggest variable in conversion and in price. A funnel built on copy you supply is cheaper to quote but often converts worse. Our funnel copy template shows the structure we write to if you want to draft it yourself.
Number and type of pages
A single opt-in page is quick. A VSL funnel with an application, a quiz funnel with branching logic, or a checkout with an order bump and two upsells takes longer to plan, build and test.
CRM and automation depth
Pipeline stages, instant SMS and email, missed-call text-back, round-robin routing and reminder sequences are where most of the build hours go, and where most of the revenue is recovered. See what this covers on our CRM automation page.
Tracking
Pixel-only tracking is cheap to set up and increasingly unreliable. Server-side events through the Meta Conversions API take more work but recovered 31% more events in our builds, which changes what the ad algorithm learns from.
Ownership and retainers
Some agencies build inside their own accounts and charge monthly for access. That lowers the upfront number but raises lifetime cost and makes leaving painful. Ask who owns the funnel, CRM and ad account before you compare prices.
4. Our Pricing, Line by Line
We publish fixed, one-time prices because most funnel quotes are impossible to compare. Every package goes live in 5 to 10 business days, and there is no retainer.
| Package | Price | Includes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Design | $999 | Funnel design and page build to your copy | Teams with proven copy and their own CRM |
| Design + Copy + Build | $1,499 | Strategy, direct-response copy, full funnel build | Offers that need positioning and conversion copy |
| Complete Suite | $1,999 | Everything above plus CRM, automation, AI booking agent and tracking | Booked-call offers that live or die on follow-up |
The complete suite is the one most lead generation clients choose, because it includes the speed-to-lead layer. Across 60+ deployments, that layer produced a median first contact of 38 seconds, reached 84% of leads inside the first minute and lifted lead-to-booking 2.4x on the same ads. The full scope is on our sales funnel agency page.
6. Payback Math: Will the Funnel Pay for Itself?
Before any build, we run a simple payback model. You need four inputs: monthly ad spend, cost per lead, lead-to-sale rate and average sale value. Plug them into our funnel conversion calculator and change one input at a time to see which lever matters most for your offer.
A service business spends $5,000 a month at $25 per lead, so 200 leads. If 10% book and 50% of those close at $2,000, that is 10 sales and $20,000. Lift lead-to-booking by even half of the 2.4x we have measured and the same ad spend produces 15 sales. A $1,999 build pays back inside the first month.
Real numbers from our case studies show the range. A roofing client generated 537 leads at $4.27 each on $2,292 of spend. A med spa turned $590 of ad spend into $11,700 in revenue. On the low-ticket side, our $847K front-end funnel recovered 112% of ad spend on day zero, so the funnel paid for its own traffic before any backend sale.
If your current cost per lead is the problem, the cost per lead calculator shows how much a lower CPL is worth at your close rate.
7. What Happens During a 5 to 10 Day Build
Part of what you pay for is speed and certainty. A slow build costs money too, because every week without a working funnel is a week of ad spend going to a weaker page or no campaign at all. Here is how a typical build runs on our side:
- Day 1: strategy call and scope. We confirm the offer, the audience, the funnel type and where the funnel ends: a call, an appointment or a checkout.
- Days 2 to 4: copy and page build. Headlines, proof, forms or quiz logic, checkout or calendar. You review one draft instead of five rounds of feedback.
- Days 4 to 7: CRM and automation. Pipeline stages, instant SMS and email, call attempts, reminders and handoff rules to your team.
- Days 6 to 9: tracking and testing. Pixel and server-side events, test leads through every branch, and a check that each stage fires the right event.
- Day 10 at the latest: launch. You get logins, a walkthrough and full ownership of every account.
When a quote says six to eight weeks for a similar scope, most of that time is usually waiting on copy, approvals or integrations. Ask what the timeline depends on before you accept it, and get it in writing.
8. Red Flags in Funnel Quotes
Whether you hire us or anyone else, these are the signs that a low quote will turn into a high cost later:
- No mention of follow-up. If the quote covers pages but says nothing about what happens after someone opts in, leads will sit in an inbox.
- The agency keeps the accounts. If you cannot export your contacts, funnels and workflows when you leave, you are renting, not buying.
- Guaranteed results with no numbers behind them. Ask for case studies with ad spend, leads and revenue, not just testimonials.
- Tracking described as "pixel installed". Browser-only tracking misses a large share of conversions. Ask about server-side events.
- Unlimited revisions with no defined scope. It sounds generous but usually means the project has no end date.
9. How to Choose the Right Budget Level
- You are pre-revenue and testing an idea: start DIY on an inexpensive builder and validate the offer with a small ad budget.
- You have proven copy and a CRM you like: a design-only build is enough.
- You sell something that needs a conversation: pay for copy, follow-up and tracking. Without them, the pages will generate leads that never turn into calls.
- You sell a low-priced product online: prioritize checkout, order bump and upsell structure. Our low ticket funnel guide covers the economics.
Whichever level you pick, ask every provider the same three questions: what exactly is in scope, who owns the accounts after launch, and what happens in the first 60 seconds after someone opts in. To see examples by industry, browse our case studies or the sales funnel examples roundup. When you are ready, book a strategy call and we will run the payback math on your numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a sales funnel cost for a small business?
Most small businesses spend somewhere between a monthly software subscription for a DIY build and a few thousand dollars for a professional one. Our fixed packages run from $999 to $1,999 one-time. Budget separately for software, SMS and email usage, and the ad spend needed to test the funnel properly.
Why do agency funnel quotes vary so much?
Quotes bundle very different scopes. One agency prices pages only, another includes copy, CRM setup, automations and tracking, and a third adds an ongoing retainer for ads and optimization. Always ask for a line-item scope, who owns the accounts after launch, and whether follow-up automation is included before comparing numbers.
Is a cheap funnel builder enough on its own?
It can be for a simple lead magnet or a product checkout. For booked-call offers, the page is only half the system. Without instant follow-up, reminders and conversion tracking, a cheap funnel tends to generate leads that are never contacted, calls that never show, and ad accounts that optimize for the wrong people.
Do I pay monthly for a funnel after it is built?
You pay for the software it runs on, such as GoHighLevel or ClickFunnels, plus usage like SMS and email. With Funnels That Print the build itself is a one-time fee with no retainer. You own the funnel, the CRM and the ad account data, and can manage it in-house or hire help later.
How long does it take to build a sales funnel?
A focused funnel with one offer, one front end and a follow-up sequence takes 5 to 10 business days when the scope is clear and assets arrive on time. Builds stretch to weeks or months when copy is outsourced separately, approvals stall, or the business has not yet decided what it is selling.
What is the biggest hidden cost in a sales funnel?
Slow follow-up. Leads you paid for but never reached are the most expensive line item in most funnels. Our audits regularly find response times measured in hours. That is why speed-to-lead automation, which reached 84% of leads inside the first minute across our deployments, is included in the complete suite.
